John Russell Chandler Oakes

After John accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior in 2007, he lived faithfully for God expecting this day when he would see his Savior. John retired from Precision Husky with over 33 years of service.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rosa Lee Oakes; daughter, Gwenette Oakes-Wolsey (Bobby); son, John Russell Chandler Oakes Jr. (Jane); sisters: Juanita Isbell, and Martha Lloyd; brother, Cecil Oakes; 4 Grandchildren: Johnathon Oakes (Jessica), Teela Oakes, Justin Oakes (Jennifer), and Tabitha Oakes; great granddaughter, Rylee Lynn Oakes. John, along with his family, are anticipating the arrival of 2 other great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM. Until 8:00 PM. Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds. Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday at Kilgroe Funeral Home Leeds Chapel with burial at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
