A funeral service will be held on Wednesday February 19th 2020 at 2:00 pm for Mrs Maggie Isabelle Lovell Wilson PhD with reverend Johnathon Todd officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Leeds First United Methodist Church. Mrs Maggie Isabelle Lovell Wilson passed away on Friday February 14th 2020 at her home in Leeds AL. She was preceded in death by Harvey Elvin Wilson Jr. her husband of 49 years and her son Harvey Elvin Wilson III. Her parents Winston Porter Lovell and Ruth Kate Buckner Lovell, grandparents Jesse David Lovell and Isadora Isabelle Posey Lovell, Zebulon Pike Buckner and Suzanne Jane Pope Buckner. Three brothers Winston Jerome Lovell, Zebulon Lee Lovell, Vernon Raymond Lovell and two sisters Sue Edna Lovell Parsons Bonham Brown and Rosa Mae Lovell Bailey Oddo. Mrs. Wilson is survived by her daughter Marsha Isabelle Wilson Cabuk. Two grandsons Joe Grice Cabuk III (Michelle Wirth Cabuk), and Samuel Jerome Cabuk. Three granddaughters Miranda Wilson Clowdus (John Clowdus), Katelyn Michelle Wilson (David Rothe), Katherine Marie Wilson Lovett (LaDarrien Lovett). Great grandchildren Marissa Rene Cabuk, Allison Michelle Cabuk, Alexzander Blaise Clowdus, Madisyn Isabelle Rogers, Michael Lovett and Gabriel Lovett Pallbearers will be John Clowdus, David Rothe, Chuck Boggan, Brad Pool, Parker O'Barr and Johnny Dutton. A family graveside service will be held after the funeral at Branchville Cemetery following the service at Leeds First United Methodist Church under the direction of Kilgroe Funeral Home. Mrs Wilson Graduated from Leeds High School at age 16 and was a beautician and held a master cosmetologist certificate while owning a beauty salon in Leeds AL. She went on to further her education and earned the following degrees - Bachelor of arts from Samford University, Masters of Arts and Educational Studies from The University of Alabama, a Master of Fine Arts Degree from Loyola University, an Honorary PhD from Sussex England and an Honorary PhD in Literature from the International Biographical Society in Cambridge England. Her Biographical information can be found in the marquise Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who among students at American Colleges and Universities She taught school in the Birmingham School System for several years before retiring to pursue her love of painting and the arts. Mrs. Wilson was very active in the Methodist Church as president and district president of WMU. She was a member of the Leeds Literary Club, The Business and Professional Women's Organization, The Leeds Art Council, The Cahaba Valley Garden Club, The Watercolor Society Of Alabama, and The United Daughters of the Confederacy.Mrs. Wilson was a charter member of the Watercolor Society of Alabama and won several certificates and awards. Her paintings were chose to represent the United States at The Salon des Nations in Paris, France in 1984. She loved gardening and illustrated several books.
