With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michael Fields Parker, who left this world peacefully on July 1, 2025 at the age of 67. A devoted father, loving husband, and loyal friend, his legacy will live on in the many lives he touched.
Michael was born in Leeds, Alabama in 1958 and as a pastors kid grew up across Missouri and Alabama and graduated from Deshler High School in 1976.
In 1978 he married his first wife, Leah Stephenson, fathering his first child Naomi Parker. Then in 1983 he married Carol Hanna, fathering his second child, Harrison Parker. Michael was a dedicated father, a role he cherished deeply.
He dedicated many years of his professional life to working as an Irrigation Specialist at Riverchase Country Club where he took great pride in maintaining the grounds with precision and care. His work at the course reflected who he was: dependable, dedicated, and proud of his work.
Michael loved the Lord and was a man of strong Christian faith, which served as the foundation for how he lived, how he loved, and how he served others. He also had a passion for singing and could be found in the church choir along side his siblings praising the Lord.
In his later years, he enjoyed reading, gaming, and spending time with his grandchildren. He often said that being a grandfather was one of life’s greatest blessings.
He is survived by Naomi (Daniel) Ledlow, daughter; Harrison (Jamie) Parker, son; Grandsons: Caleb Ian Ledlow, Hudson Ledlow, Braden Ledlow, Granddaughters: Aubree Ledlow, Hanna Parker; Dennis (Patsy) Parker, brother; Debbie Roberts, sister; Deanna Dew, sister; and a host of nephews and nieces who will continue to honor his memory by living life with the same quiet strength and love he showed every day.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday July 7, 2025 at North Shelby Baptist Church. Visitation begins at 1pm, followed by the service at 2pm.
Though he may no longer walk beside us, his values, lessons, and love will continue to guide us.
