Nancey Gem Alverson Phillips, 76, of Birmingham, Alabama passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on September 26, 2023. She was born on May 12, 1947, in Irondale, Alabama. She was a skilled, dedicated registered nurse for almost 40 years having received her nursing degree from Jefferson State Community College.
Nancey was an avid reader and loved spending time at the beach. She was warm, kind, selfless, compassionate, strong, intelligent, supportive, and encouraging. She never met a stranger. She loved her family fiercely and was a blessing to everyone who knew her.
Nancey was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sara (Cone) Alverson; brother, Johnny Alverson; daughter, Sonia A. Girard; and grandchildren, Christan G. Davis, Austin Z. Phillips, and Dustin S. Phillips. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 32 years, Larry K. Phillips, Sr.; daughters, Wendy (Tim) Davis, Christy (Monte) Montgomery, and Candy Perry; stepchildren, Kenneth (Tammy) Phillips, Brad (Joy) Phillips, and Ronda (Jeff) Bush; 18 beloved grandchildren; 8 treasured great grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Alverson, and several nieces and cousins.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds, Alabama on Sunday, October 1st, 2023. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm with a funeral service in the chapel immediately following. Nancey will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and those whose lives she touched.
