Nancy Ann Hopkins Stephens – Birmingham, AL – Nancy passed into eternal rest on May 2, 2025. Born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on May 21, 1945, she was 79 years old. Nancy was the daughter of the late Fredrick Jackson and Ruth Swires Hopkins. She was the oldest of two children. Nancy was a graduate of Trussville High School and UAB nursing school and led a career as a nurse, which was her lifelong dream. Nancy and Robert (Bob) were married in 1967 before starting their journey traveling for Bob to pursue his engineering career. They welcomed their first daughter, LeAnn, in 1975 while living in NC and their second daughter, Sara, in 1977 while living in OK. Shortly after the birth of their second daughter, Bob and Nancy moved to London, England and later Stavanger, Norway before settling in Greenville, SC. They were dedicated members of Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church for 17 years. In 2005, they moved to Birmingham, AL to be closer to grandchildren and became members of Third Presbyterian Church. Nancy will be remembered as a loving wife of 58 years, mother, grandmother and friend. Nancy loved Jesus, her family and others, she never knew a stranger. She found joy in friendships new and old as well as traveling and learning new cultures. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with family and her precious grandchildren. She was so proud of each of them, and they will remember her as a Nana that was always there with arms wide open.
Besides her husband, Robert, she is survived by her children, LeAnn McMillan (Sean) & Sara McDonald (John) of Mountain Brook, Al; five grandchildren, Emma McMillan, Jay McDonald, Kate McMillan, Sterling McDonald and Grace McMillan. She was predeceased by her sister, Kay Hopkins Hutchinson. The family will have a private service.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day- and not only me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
2 Timothy 4:7-8
