Phillip Glenn Barfield

Phillip Glenn Barfield (60), son of the late Virgil Garrett Barfield (born in Montgomery, Montgomery County, Alabama) and Lonell "Nell" Best (born in Aspermont, Stonewall County, Texas), was born January 26, 1966, in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama. He went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, after an extended illness.

Phillip was born in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama and lived with his family in Leeds where he attended Leeds High School and Mount Hebron Baptist Church. Later in his career as a salesman, he would live briefly in Tennessee and Texas before returning to live permanently in the Birmingham area until his death.

Some of Phillip's favorite hobbies were motorcycle riding and carrying on the family tradition of watching Alabama football and the respect of Bear Bryant.

Phillip is survived by three nephews, Jonathan Barfield (Marcie), Stephen Barfield (Rachael Gatlin) both of Alabama, and Berry Barfield (Stephanie) of Georgia. Two sisters-in-law, Terry (Clem) Barfield of Alabama and Dianne Barfield of Georgia. Phillips is predeceased by both of his parents and two older brothers, Terry Barfield and Joe Barfield.

His going home celebration will be held on Saturday February 28, 2026 at 2:00PM. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00PM from Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds. Burial will be at Mt. Hebron Cemetery in Leeds, Alabama.

Honorary Pallbearers are Jonathan and Stephen Barfield, and Berry Barfield. In lieu of flowers the, the family ask that donations be made to Mount Hebron Baptist Church. Officiant is Pastor Steven Weems.
