Ralphene L Parnell

Ralphene L. Parnell, age 82, died March 20, 2014. She was a 1953 graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in secondary education. She obtained her Master's degree in History from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She spent most of her 31-year teaching career at Leeds Elementary School and Leeds High School. Mrs. Parnell served the community as a member of The Woman's Literary Club, The Leeds Music Study Club, and The Leeds Study Club. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Leeds. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Hayes Parnell, Jr., who died on June 5, 2004. She is survived by her daughter Mary Allene Bailey (Jerry), son Hayes Parnell, III (Paige) and six grandchildren: William Parnell Bailey (Kristen), James Creighton Bailey (Heather), Memorie Elizabeth Bailey, William Robert Burns, II, Edmund Chase Burns, Hayes Parnell, IV (Bethany), one great grandchild, Hannah Lee Parnell, one sister, Allene L. Dunnam (Lee), and one brother, James McKinney Larkins. Services will be held Friday, March 21, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Leeds, Alabama beginning with visitation at the church at 1:30 p.m., and funeral services to follow at the church at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be at Mt. Hebron Cemetery immediately following the service. Memorials in Mrs. Parnell's name may be given to First Baptist Church in Leeds (7481 Parkway Drive, Leeds, AL 35094) or The St. Clair County Sherriff's Boys Ranch (15 Ira Hanks Drive Pell City, AL 35128).
