OBITUARY

Ray Alexander

July 10, 1936July 3, 2019

Alexander, Ray, age 82, of Lincoln, AL passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2019. Ray was the ultimate sporting man. His loves included Alabama football, trips to Las Vegas to satisfy his passion for shooting dice and above all his gamefowl. His favorite games were the Bama vs. Tennessee games. Especially at Tennessee where he enjoyed the fall weather, the Tennessee River, and some of his best friends companionship. His gamefowl were known as “ The Winningest Fowl in the World.” His worldwide popularity reached cult status among his many fans in the United States, Mexico, and especially in his beloved Philippines. When he entered the famous Araneta Coliseum in Manila, it was like Moses parting the Red Sea with his adoring fans requesting pictures and autographs. Ray took time with each of them, getting to know them, and finishing with his famous line: “ If there’s anything I can help you with, let me know.” Mr. Alexander is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Alexander. He is survived by his daughters, Rayandra Seville (Nate) and Leighanne Alexander; sons, Harold Ray Alexander and Andy Hayes (Deraye); sister, Theresa Myers; brother, Tommy Joe Alexander; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Grantswood Baptist Church in Irondale, AL at 3:00PM with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019 from the church beginning at 2:00PM. Kilgroe Funeral Home, Leeds to direct services. Visit us online at www.kilgroefuneralhome.com

To the family and love ones of Mr ray alexander, my senir condolences and prayers go out to you, unfortunately I didn't get the privilege of meeting Mr ray alexander, I've heard so many stories about about him since I was a little kid, I've always wanted to meet Mr ray so bad but due my surcommstances I was unable to do so, I've seen videos of him and can tell he was a great man and father, unfortunately I didn't have a father figure in my life, but as funny as it may sound i would of wished I had a father like ray alexander, To teach me about his fowls as a dad would to his sun/doughter I hope you all find peace and can cope with such a loss! Thanks for giving me the opportunity to say and speak what's in my heart I wish I could some day have the privilege to meet your family and heard all the great stories, and all the wonderful memories, and have a chance to walk with you Mr ray and see your legacy you leave behind hoping one day I can take a peace of your life with me and have the privilege to say I have a game bird that Mr ray alexander raised! And have the chance to continue history and pass on my experience and knowledge I pick up along the way thanks you Mr ray alexander being my mentor even if I didn't even have the chance in meeting you sir! Ray and I have been friends for over 50 years. Many travels together to the Philippines and others. I will miss him especially in January when he would come to California and we would go to the Philippines to see Mr Jorge Araneta also a true friend of Ray and myself for many years and we would attend the World Slasher Championship. Also our many phone calls just to check and update each other .
Rays fowl was part of the winning entry in May of the second leg of the World Championship. He was extremely proud and excited when this occurred
He takes with him one of the greatest knowledge of our sport as well as knowing many of the breeds of fowl and how the came about. We would talked for hours on the breeding of game fowl etc.
Rayandra thank you for caring for your father and my good friend over the past years as his health declined
I will truly miss by buddy
