Richard Cary Phillips was born April 5, 1934, in Starkville, MS. and died March 15, 2019 in Birmingham, AL. He was a graduate of Auburn University, AL, where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He married Shirley Dean Golden in 1958, and has three children, Richard Charles, Tressa Ann, and William Christopher (deceased).
He remarried in 1984 and is survived by his wife, Evelyne G. Phillips and grandchildren.
Richard worked for The Boeing Company and in 1968, was placed on the "Boeing Honor Roll" for his work related to advancing the sciences and placing "Man on the Moon" with the NASA Apollo Moon Missions. This award, with a write-up of his many achievements, is located in the Smithsonian Institute and in the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C. Richard wrote several books and obtained 2 patents from the U.S. Government in his later years. His personal greatest achievement was made in 1992, with the publication and printing of his book titled “The Cherubim” and patent for the "Ion Repulsion Engine."
