

Robert Carter Goggins, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, teacher, and friend, passed away on October 6, 2026. Bob was born in Marvel, Alabama, on August 30, 1938, and attended Hueytown High School, graduating in 1956. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1958, training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio and studying Korean at the Presidio in Monterrey. His six years of service included a stint in Korea as a linguist, where he rose to the rank of Airman First Class. After a career that included stops at Electronic Data Systems and First International Fort Worth, he retired from BBVA Compass Bank.
Bob lived a life of service to God and took every opportunity to make Christ known. He taught adult bible study at Cedar Grove Baptist and First Baptist Leeds for more than 15 years. He also volunteered in adult literacy and took great joy in gifting new readers with their own Bible. Bob treated his final illness as an opportunity to share his faith with everyone he encountered.
Bob loved his family abundantly, especially Margaret, his wife of 63 years. He is survived by his wife Margaret, sons Barry (Susan) and Scott, granddaughters Rachel and Leah, brother Keith (Patricia), and his much loved nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Carter Goggins, Sr., and Geraldine Goggins, as well as his dear sister Sheila Dean Ingram and brother-in-law Lloyd Ingram.
The family would like to thank the staff of ACG Hospice and Bruno Cancer Center for their compassion and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideons International.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 14, 2026 from 10:00-11:00 AM from the Chapel of Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds, Alabama with a Funeral Service to begin at 11:00 AM. Family will have a private graveside service.
