Robert A. Hitt

Robert Allen Hitt, age 90, of Leeds, AL passed away on September 9, 2024.Robert was born on July 3, 1934 to L.L. and Daisy Hitt in Tuscaloosa, AL. He was a graduate of the University of Alabama and retired from Liberty National Life Insurance Company as an Accountant. On June 15, 1958, Robert married Eleanor Faye Ford, the love of his life. The couple were devoted members of Valley View Baptist Church in Leeds, where Robert was a deacon and Sunday School teacher. Robert enjoyed traveling with his wife, gardening at home and fishing. He also thoroughly enjoyed gatherings with family and friends, often taking center stage with his jokes and sharing light-hearted stories about his life experiences. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two sons, Steven and Randy. He is survived by his son, Scott (Craig) and two grandchildren, Randel and Gabriel (Brittany), great-grandson James and sister, Ruth (Bryant) Burroughs. Services for Robert will be on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Kilgroe Funeral Home 1750 Ashville Road Leeds, Alabama. Visitation will be from 2:30 PM until 3:30 PM with the funeral service beginning at 3:30 PM in the chapel. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, AL.
