He’s survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara R. Patterson Carter, his living son, Michael, his two grandsons, Christian Michael & Jesse Scott Lee Rosario, his one grandson, Andrew Lamar Murphree, one granddaughter, Katherine Lindsey Murphree, two ex-daughter in laws, Joy Lynn Barnes & Shannon Holloway Murphree Carter, & their families, preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Carter Rosario, 8 years ago Thanksgiving, his dad & mom, Otis L & Thelma Lucille, his aunt Elsie Carter, his nephew, Stephen "Chipper", his uncle Virgil, his aunt Luverne, his cousin, Karen, his living brother Robert L Carter, his cousin, Linda & Debbie,& all of their families, his late brother in law, Micheal Patterson, his living wife, Lola Patterson & her three supporting kids, Jeanine, Pamela, & son, Steven, & all of their families,his brother in law, Bill Howard & wife, Patty,her sister, Sandra & Roland Sasseville, & daughters, Angel Womble & Nikki Sasseville, with ex husbands, Shane Sharron & Mark Fuller, & all of their families,his sister in law, Janice McMahon & Wayne McMahon, son, Terry McMahon & Sharon Corn McMahon, their daughter, Kiley, their daughter, Mandy McMahon, with her recently deceased husband Steve and ex husband James, his sister in law Betty & Jim Thomas along with their kids and family, Jim,Jr, Christy Thomas Williams,& Misty Carmichael,& their families,his youngest sister in law, Sheila Tyler with her deceased ex husband, Sam Tyler, her deceased, good & kind friend, Pat Loreno, her daughter, Kim Tyler with two ex husbands & present one, her son, Tommy Tyler, with daughter & many great family & friends. He's retired from being a chemist for 47 years, his PT job, the B'ham Public Downtown Library, lead music at several churches, plus played piano at them too,& assistant coached for his daughter & son.

He's loved his church, Moody Parkway Church of God, & loved his Pastor, Billy Patterson. Heaven's gain is truly earth's loss.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Kilgroe Funeral Home, Leeds from 1-2PM. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Kilgroe Funeral Home, Leeds beginning at 2:00PM followed by a gathering of family and friends at the residence of Robert L. Carter, 2116 Brewster Rd, Birmingham, AL, 35235.

A second visitation and memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at Trinity Christian Fellowship, 2165 Floyd Bradford Rd, Trussville, AL 35173 beginning at 1:00PM for visitation and 2:00PM for services. Family and friends are invited to Robert L. Carter's residence following services.
