Thomas Wilson McGill, aged 86 years old, passed away at his home on February 24, 2015. He was born on July 30, 1928 in Wetumpka, AL and was preceded in death by his mother Eula McGill and his wife of 57 years, Dorothy McGill. He entered the Army Air Corps (U.S. Air Force) in 1946 where he served his country faithfully before his retirement in 1967. One of the highlights of his military career was participating in the Berlin Airlift in 1948. In 1955, he married Dorothy Loden in Savannah, GA and they were stationed in Bangor, ME, Newfoundland, Canada, and Dover, DE before they retired in Leeds. After his military retirement, he worked 26 years at Southern Research Institute before his final retirement in 1990. After retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling and visiting family and old friends. He was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and was a Master Mason of 64 years with dual membership in his home lodge in Montgomery and also in Leeds. He is survived by his son Steve McGill (Judy) of Pelham and daughter Melissa Gonzalez (Woody) of San Antonio, TX and grandchildren Gabriela and Steven Gonzalez and Lauren and Austin McGill. In lieu of flowers, he had requested donations be made to the Leeds Masonic Lodge community fund. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11AM from Kilgroe Funeral Home Leeds Chapel with visitation and reception to follow.
