Timothy Vaughn Washburn

He was born January 31, 1950, in Birmingham, Alabama, son of the late John and Dalton Washburn. He is survived by his wife Kelly Washburn; son Lee Washburn (Cera), daughters, Meredith Wilkerson (Jason) and Katie Anderson (Eric) and their mother Nancy Lankford; grandchildren Alex Washburn, Jack Washburn and their mother Joy Washburn, John Wilkerson, Sam Wilkerson, Josiah Wilkerson, Maggie Wilkerson, Silas Wilkerson, Molly Wilkerson, Ella Anderson, and Andy Anderson.

Tim was a 1968 graduate of Leeds High School. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1969 and served his country in the 4th Infantry Division as a light weapons infantryman throughout the jungles of Vietnam. He earned the Combat Infantryman Badge for action seen throughout the Central Highlands on jungle patrols.

Tim was well known throughout Leeds, Brimingham, and North Alabama from his time as production and business development manager at Spruiell’s Dairy, where he oversaw the production and distribution of a nationally recognized super premium ice cream. As the owner and operator of Energy Savers, he touched the lives of countless individuals throughout the area as the trusted name in heating and air, always making sure people were taken care of throughout any winter storm or summer heat wave.

He was an active member of American Legion Post 107 in Leeds and helped start the post’s annual Veteran’s Day Fish Fry, raising money for veterans throughout the area. He was also a member of the Leeds Masonic Lodge.

Tim married Kelly in 2001 and the two enjoyed music, entertaining their multitude of friends and family, and keeping up with the children and grandchildren. If they were not both hard at work, you would likely find them enjoying time in their outdoor kitchen that Tim designed and built as he made his infamous barbecued hot ribs.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 30, 2026, at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds, followed by a service at St. Theresa Catholic Church at 12:00 p.m., and graveside at Cedar Grove Cemetery immediately following.
