She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on March 7, 1932 to Lorene and J.T. McCombs. Tommie was a graduate of Birmingham Business College and worked for many years as a bookkeeper. Together with her husband Giles they raised two children. She was a woman of faith who deeply cared for her family.
Tommie is preceded in death by her husband, Giles Pate, her siblings Jim McCombs, Ray McCombs, Doris McKinney, and Clayton McCombs. She is survived by her children, Ken Pate (Allison) and Sharon Stephens (Danny), her sibling Jerry McCombs(Phyllis), sister-in-law Cookie McCombs, her four grandchildren, Brittany (Preston), Brandon (Taylor), Bradley (Taylor), and Jason (Heather) and her five great grandchildren Sam, Naomi, Caleb, Catherine, and Liam.
A graveside service at Forest Crest cemetery will be held Tuesday March 31, 2026 at 2 p.m.
