Verlon Irene Thomas

Verlon Irene Thomas, 74, of Leeds, AL. passed away on Monday, October 17, 2011 with her family by her side. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a devout follower of Christ who will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to have known her. She taught Sunday School at Leeds Assembly of God for many years and was lovingly known as “Granny Hobert”.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, William Hobert Thomas; sister, Bernice Wallace; brother, Harold Isbell (Linda); sister, Wynell Aldridge; sister, Mary Guess; sister-in-law, Rozell England; daughter, Margaret Gann; son Hobert Michael Thomas (fiance’ Mitzi); grandchildren: Greg Gann (Heather), Jared Gann (Shelly); great grandchildren: Grayson Gann, Lukas Gann, and Landon Gann.

The Thomas Family would like to acknowledge the professional caring staffs of the 2nd floor east and west wings of Fair Haven Nursing Home, and Odyssey Hospice for the love and care that was shown to Mrs. Thomas in her time of need. Your thoughtfulness and compassion to not only our loved one, but to our entire family, was a source of great comfort.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Kilgroe Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Odenville 1st. Baptist Cemetery.
