Lowrey, Virginia Goforth, age 88, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away May 30, 2024. She is survived by her children, Steven Andrew Lowrey, Sherry Lowrey Brown (Eddie), and Julie Lowrey Burson (Paul). She was adored by her grandchildren, Kristen Parker, Kimberly McGuire (Taylor), Jordan Burson (Amanda), Matthew Lowrey (Morgan), Jessica Bush (Jonathan), Molly Rich (Wes), Jillian Campisi (Matt), Kylee Sisk, Jenna Burson, and Autumn Tidmore. She has 11 great-grandchildren, with at least two more on the way.
Virginia was born in Birmingham, Alabama March 22, 1936, to Gus and Laila Goforth. She attended West End High School and Decatur High School before attending business school. She worked for the Women's Missionary Union for 25 years.
For 52 years, she loved, adored, and respected her husband, R.A. Lowrey. They were a beautiful example for their family. She cherished her family and taught them to enjoy the simple pleasures of life, including many years of playing and watching her kids and grandkids play ball, cooking big family dinners, and having get-togethers for any reason. She loved to cook for her family and was always on the hunt for the next perfect tablecloth.
The family wishes to thank her caregivers at The Bungalows at Riverchase and Hanceville Nursing and Rehab. We are forever grateful for the love and care you showed her and our family during this last year of her life.
A Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024, at Kilgroe Funeral Home, Leeds, Alabama, with burial at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be June 3rd at 1pm followed by the service and graveside at 2pm. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds directing.
