Walton Keith Skinner

Walton “Keith” Skinner, age 72, of Moody, Alabama, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord on August 3, 2026. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, faithful deacon, and friend to all who knew him. For 51 years, he shared a beautiful marriage with the love of his life, Darlene. Together they built a home rooted in faith, love, and service to others. He was preceded in death by is father, Walton E. Skinner; mother, Iris Skinner; and sister Tammy Johnson. He is survived by his beloved wife, Darlene; his daughters, Dixie Canterbury (Scott) and Crystal Dorsett (Blake); his cherished grandchildren, Logan Montgomery (Leslie), Dakota Lipscomb (Jay), Kailey Chandler (Zachery), Taylor Canterbury (Noah Stewart), McKenzie Montgomery, McKenley Montgomery (Hudson Smith), Christian Dorsett, Braylon Dorsett, and Neely Dorsett brothers Anthony Skinner (Lynne) and Warren Skinner (Becky). His treasured great grandchildren Ezria Montgomery, Bronx Lipscomb, Oaklynn Chandler, Presslee Chandler, Brooklyn Lipscomb, and Baker Lipscomb. Many nieces, nephews, friends, and church family. For 40 years, he faithfully worked for Norfolk Southern Railway, where he earned the respect of his coworkers through his dedication and strong work ethic. Retirement never slowed his servant’s heart. If someone needed help, he was the first to arrive and the last to leave. He never hesitated to drop whatever he was doing to lend a hand, offer encouragement, or simply be there for someone in need.His greatest love was his Savior, Jesus Christ. He faithfully served as a deacon at Beulah Primitive Baptist Church, where his quiet example, steadfast faith, and servant’s heart touched countless lives. His commitment to his church and his love for God’s people were evident in the way he lived every day. He will be remembered for his kindness, humility, generosity, and unwavering faith. More than anything, he leaves behind a legacy of loving God, loving his family, and serving others without expecting anything in return. Though his family grieves his absence, they rejoice in the hope and assurance that he is now in the presence of the Lord he faithfully loved and served. His life was a testimony to God’s grace, and his memory will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭KJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Visitation will be Thursday from 10-11:00 am.

Funeral services will be held Thursday August 6, 2026 at 11:00am from the chapel of Kilgroe Funeral Home, Leeds, AL with burial at Forest Crest Cemetery.
