

Funeral services will be held for Carl Wilson Jr., 85, on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the Hixson Funeral Home. Brother Terry Ward of Antioch Baptist Church and Brother Billy Johnson will preside over the services. Burial will follow in the Cooper Cemetery, Pickering, LA, under the direction of the Hixson Funeral Home.
The family would like to welcome friends for visitation on Monday, October 8, 2012, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Tuesday, October 9, 2012, from 9:00 AM until service at 2:00 PM at Hixson’s.
Carl M. Wilson, Jr. was born on July 4, 1927, in Vernon Parish, LA, to the late Carl Markes Wilson, Sr. and Ina Laura McLaren Wilson. He passed away late in the afternoon on October 6, 2012, in Alexandria, LA. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church where he was also an inactive deacon. He served as a well-respected Deputy Sherriff for Vernon Parish, and was a life-long Logging Contractor. He held many passions, and the most pronounced of them were music, bird hunting and fox hunting. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and thought his grandchildren were the lights of his life.
Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mark Wilson; one grandson, Quentin Moore; one great-granddaughter, Mirrell Moore; one brother, Marvin Jean Wilson; and one sister, Carrie Bell Wilson Rhodes.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Blanche Perkins Wilson; six children: Carline Pelt and husband Carlous, Freida Stephens and husband Clyde Dale, Judy Wilson, Carlton Wilson and wife Phyllis, Edith Moore and husband Darrell, Odell Wilson and wife Piper; six siblings: Helen Kilburg, Betty Janzen, Rachel Royalty, Ruth Wilson, Linda Zappa, Huey Wilson Sr.; twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, numerous extended-family members, and many personal friends.
Honoring Mr. Wilson as pallbearers will be Kevin Kilburg, L.V. Rhodes, Jr., Clinton Goins, Gary Alan Bridges, Keith Zappa and Justin Goins.
Memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church for the Relay for Life fund in honor of Mr. Carl M. Wilson, Jr.
