Our sweet loving mother went to be with her Heavenly Father on the wings of an angel on November 2nd, 2016. She was 85 years old. Mom was born in Leningrad, Russia, later moving to Germany after her step father was taken to Siberia. She was a consummate fighter who survived communism, as well as a war ravaged nation to become a wonderful and loving wife and mother.
At the end of the war she met her soul mate (Oliver Davis) in West Berlin, married him and then followed him home to America. She was married for 57 years to her soul mate before he passed away. Although he was gone physically, he was still with her; and, toward the end of her life, she could be heard praying with him. Once mom came to America she learned to speak English watching the “Howdy Dowdy “show, as well as the “Lone Ranger”. Her pride and joy was becoming a nationalized citizen of the US of America, as well as her family who she loved very much. In addition, she loved all those who came in contact with her and knew her; they loved her back just as much. She never judged anyone and was a friend to all. One of her favorite sayings was for us not to judge someone else until we walked in that other person’s shoes. As she would say, “You do not know where they have been or what they had been through.”
In the later years of her life, when she could not get around on her own, a beautiful thing happened. Her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Davis, took the reins (along with mom’s only son, Don) to become her care givers. To them, the rest of the family extends many, many thanks. Both were truly a blessing to mom, especially during her time of need.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her loving husband, Oliver Davis; daughter, Martha Davis, and parents. Those left to cherish her memory are, son, Don Davis and wife, Elizabeth; daughters Rose Marie Calk and husband, Danny, Lisa Marie Reynoso and husband, Bobby; six grandchildren, Bobbie Jo, Kimberly, Randy, Lindsey, Kevin, Theresa; eight great- grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 5, 2016 in the Chapel of Hixson Funeral Home, Leesville, LA. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Hixson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Leesville, LA.
