

Celebration of Life services for Mrs. Mary Maxine Walker Bridges, 83, of Leesville will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 25, 2017 at East Leesville Baptist Church, Leesville, LA., with Pastor Jeff Smart and Brother Jack Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Leesville Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hixson Funeral home in Leesville.
The family will receive guests for visitation on Friday, February 24, 2017 from 5PM until 8PM at Hixson Funeral Home, Leesville, LA and again on Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 8:30 AM until service time.
Mrs. Bridges was born on January 7, 1934 in Hornbeck, LA. to the late Thomas Jefferson Walker and Laura Luticia Dowden Walker. Mrs. Bridges was called to her heavenly home Tuesday, February 21, 2017 while surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Bridges was a lifelong resident of Vernon Parish and a member of East Leesville Baptist Church. Mrs. Bridges was the queen of Stage, where she worked for 25 plus years, and always had a warm smile for everyone. She was a Sunday school teacher, nursery coordinator, and assisted Edward with the Deacon ministry. She was an excellent seamstress. She made wedding dresses, school formals, school clothing for children, and also loved to crochet. She was a tremendous cook and loved to work crossword puzzles. She was a kind and loving lady, who was always ready with a hug that would seemingly melt your troubles away. She had a deep faith in God and was an example to all of a beautiful Christian lady. To many she was an angel. She will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Mrs. Bridges was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Jefferson Walker and Laura Luticia Dowden Walker; four sisters, Jirlene Walker Spears, Elma Walker Gass, Betty Walker Behan, and Velma Walker Richie.
Her memory will be cherished by her loving husband, Edward Bridges; her children, Richard Bridges and girlfriend, Debra, Janet Perkins and husband, Jack, Marilyn Pettiette and husband, Jeff; one brother, T.J. Walker, Jr. and wife, Betty; eight grandchildren and twelve great- grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
