Robbie was a proud graduate and loyal fan of Louisiana State University, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology in 1982. She worked for the East Baton Rouge School Board for 11 years, until she decided to pursue her dream of owning her own business and living on Toledo Bend Lake. She moved to Florine, La in 1993 and began her life's work of servicing the military community of Fort Polk for over 20 years as the founder and operator of Speech and Language Consulting Services in Leesville. Robbie’s favorite color was purple. Robbie had a passion for helping children, active service men and women, and our country's veterans. She loved animals and began using her own dogs as therapy in her practice when she recognized what a positive experience the dogs made for her clients. The dogs and her veteran clients is what eventually lead her to being a founding board member for Brothers and Sisters in Arms Dog Training, Inc., a nonprofit that strives to improve the quality of life for active duty soldiers, military veterans, and their special needs dependents. Robbie lived out her dreams, was selfless in her service to others, and has been taken from this Earth and into Gods service much too early for those who loved her most.
She leaves behind her soulmate and best friend, Michael Crowder of Florine; her son Mika (Angela) Whittaker of Prairieville; her work daughter Jamie Killian-Coody; two brothers, Neil (Becky) Herline and Ray (Janet) Herline; three grandsons, Logan, Luke, and Landon Whittaker; her "SIS" Cathryn Gaur; niece Jessica Myers (Lucas) and their daughters Lanie and Myla; nephews Ray Jr. (Krystal) and their daughter Victoria and Daniel (Tiffany) and their children Ethan, Brennen, Emily, and Abigail; and Godchild Jonathan Gaur.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert "Ernest" and Willa "Bea Bea" Hester Herline.
Visiting will be at Hixson Funeral Home in Leesville, La on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 beginning at 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a memorial service on Wednesday, March 22, 2013 at 10:00 am. Family and friends request that everyone wear purple to the memorial service in honor of Robbie.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Brothers and Sisters in Arms Dog Training, Inc, as there is no doubt that Robbie would want her legacy to be their service she provided back to those who serve our country. www.brotherandsisterptsddogs.org
