

Anna Wilhelmina Don Hughes, 83, of Lehigh Acres, FL, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2015. She was born in Palmyra, NJ on July 7, 1931 to Charles Don Sr and Anna Rackel Don. Anna was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, John T Hughes, in December 2014. Anna leaves her daughter, Sally Hughes Carman of Lehigh Acres, FL, and her three sons, Sam Hughes (wife Darlene) of Riverside NJ, Chuck Hughes (wife April) of Mt Holly NJ and Tommy Hughes of Mt Holly NJ, 7 grandchildren: Tyler Carman, Taylor Carman, Edward Anderson, Dak Hughes (wife Heather), Zebulon Hughes (wife Danah), Ulysses Hughes (wife Paula), Alia Hughes (deceased), and 11 grandchildren: Hailey, Selena, Danny, Drea, Camilla, Zackary, Lisa, Emileigh, Zebby, Hayden, Hunter.
Anna graduated in 1949 from Palmyra High School in NJ, and was active in planning class reunions and was the "Keeper of the Addresses". She held various administrative positions in NJ and PA at RCA, Ford Motor Company, Woolco Department Store and Western Union. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Palmyra, NJ for over 50 years.
Anna and John moved from Cinnaminson, NJ to Lehigh Acres, FL in 1984 when John retired. They enjoyed RVing for over 30 years, first with their children while they were growing up and when retired with their local and state chapters of Winnebago Travelers Club. After retiring from RVing, they continued to travel and cruise to many interesting world destinations.
Anna was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Lehigh Acres, FL for over 30 years. She volunteered and served in many areas of the church. Being a handbell ringer and eventually Director of the Handbell Choir, and creating and producing the church newsletter were the two "jobs" she enjoyed the most. She was also very active serving in several positions in the Cedarwood Homeowners Association where her and John first lived in Lehigh Acres, as well as being very active serving in several positions in the East Greens Condo Association where she and John lived until his death. She then moved to Fountain Crest Retirement Community in Lehigh Acres, in March, where she already had many friends and was enjoying meeting new ones and enjoying the carefree lifestyle in her new home. Sometimes God has other plans as he did with Anna and brought her home to his kingdom to spend eternity with John, the love of her life, which gives her family peace in knowing they are together again.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Christ United Methodist Church in Lehigh Acres, FL. Arrangements by Hodges/Farley Funeral Home, Lehigh Acres, FL.
Anna's family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Anna's name to the Handbell Fund at Christ United Methodist Church, 1430 Homestead Rd, Lehigh Acres, FL 33936.
