Alfons (Al) Ardelmann, a long time resident of Spring Valley, CA
passed peacefully at the age of 88. Surrounded by his family, Alfons departed us on January 9, 2019, leaving his family and friends, a lifetime of love and memories.
Alfons was born on June 25, 1930 in Essen-Ruhr, Germany to his parents Anna and Wilhelm Ardelmann. After completing his education and working as a young adult in Germany, Al continued his education and occupation in England, Spain, and Canada. In 1956, he settled in San Diego, CA and by 1963 with his first wife Carmen, had two daughters, Casandra and Monica.
Renowned locally for his impressionist style landscapes, Alfons was a
painter, muralist, and glazier employed by the Hotel Del Coronado for over 10 years until he established a partnership with his best friend, Max, in their private business. Alfons married his dedicated wife, Maria, in 1973, followed by the birth of their third daughter, Heidi.
A devoted husband and father, Alfons’ legacy consisted of adventure through his travels, beauty in his art, and the added joy of his four grandchildren: James, Reuben, Kiana and Roxanna.
