Antonio German died January 11, 2019 at the age of 95 at the Kaiser Hospital on Zion Rd. in San Diego. His residence was in Lemon Grove, CA for the past 55 years. He was born in Ray, Arizona and was raised in Riverside, CA. He left behind 7 living children: Norma (69 y/o), Susan (64 y/o), Theresa, Remigio “Remy” (61 y/o), Mary (58 y/o), John (54 y/o), & Vincent (53 y/o). His deceased children are Sonya, Antonio, jr, and Patricia. He had 15 grandchildren: Richard, Dominic, Angela, Nicole, Daniel, Nicholas, Angelina, Christina, Adam, Catherine, Theodore, Timothy, Vincent, jr., Bernard, and Cynthia. He also had 26 great-grandchildren. Antonio was widowed by his wife, Dora, in 1994 whom he was married to for 54 years. His parents, Jorge and Maria are deceased, as well as his 4 brothers: Remigio, Michael, Rudolfo, and Jerome, and 2 sisters: Jessica and Angela.
Antonio started his Machinist career in the Aviation Field in the early 1940’s in San Diego, CA. He was employed at North Island Naval Air Station in the rework facility for 42 years. He also had many part time jobs which included being a San Diego County Sherriff’s Reservist, Phyco-Ward Guard, and Stadium and Sports Arena Usher. Antonio served in the Army in 1944 to 1946 during World War II mainly fighting in Okinawa, Japan.
Antonio was an avid practicing Catholic and attended Mass at St. John of the Cross parish everyday until he could no longer drive, and since then, every Sunday. He will be buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in San Diego next to his wife, Dora, as well as his son-in-law, Vincent, Sr., and granddaughter, Catherine.
Antonio was a baseball enthusiast and coached children and women’s baseball teams in his younger years. He was a strong fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He also enjoyed working on cars, and often times helped others work on their vehicles. He also loved to travel, especially to close relatives in his former hometown of Riverside, CA and Mexico during his younger years. He volunteered as a driver and receptionist at a hospital where he met his longtime girlfriend, Gladys.
Antonio will be greatly missed by his family and friends, and he will live forever in their hearts and minds through their memories. Per the Lord’s plan, he is on his way to heaven!
