Blair “Jack” Green was born April 7, 1928 on a farm near Farnanville, Iowa to Charles & Elva (Boynton) Green. He was the third of seven children. Jack was predeceased by his parents and five brothers, their spouses and one granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife Mary, to whom he was married 64 years; two sons and daughters-in-law Charles and Sandra Green, John and Ronda Green all living in San Diego, CA; daughter and son-in-law Threasia and William Cline of Petaluma, CA; and one sister and brother-in-law Norma and Rupert Williams of Harlingen, TX. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
During Jack’s adult life he served in the U.S. Air Force. After WWII, he had an automotive repair and welding business in Iowa. He started an oil field welding service in Nebraska, Wyoming, Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. When they stopped drilling in the oil fields, he went into mobile home transporting throughout the U.S.
The family lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Sacramento, Lompoc, Los Angeles and San Diego, California. When living in Sacramento, Jack instigated the building of a doublewide mobile home by a manufacturer in Arizona. That was the beginning of doublewides. He purchased the first one ever sold. He moved it 4 times, the last time in 1965. When he moved to San Diego, he started a mobile home installation and moving business that he operated 43 years until he retired in 2007. He then closed his business.
He had gotten vascular degeneration in both eyes and was legally blind and later was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. That was a hard battle for several years. He was taken to the hospital 2 days after his 85th birthday with an infection from dental work and it turned into pneumonia taking him from us.
There was a visitation with a Funeral Service at Conrad Mortuary on Saturday, April 27th followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in San Diego, California.
