At the age of 4 Dorothy’s mother died of tuberculosis and Dorothy moved to New Jersey to live with her Grandparents Mattie and Gerhardt.
Dorothy had a wonderful life on a chicken ranch with her Grandparents.
When Dorothy was 12 her Grandmother died and she then went to live with aunts and uncles in New Jersey.
She graduated Manasquan HS in 1939 and in the early 1940’s moved to Los Angeles.
After she married Harry Lee Nottingham in 1949 she moved to Lemon Grove and later La Mesa where Lee and Dorothy settled, built a home, raised their children, and both spent the rest of their lives.
Dorothy devoted her time to the local community, where she was an active participant, and many times a leader of the local PTA, Red Cross Water Safety Programs, Junior’s Clubs, Women’s Clubs and the Lemon Grove Historical Society.
She is survived by her longtime companion Tom-Tom, three children, Donald, Henry and Holly, her two grandchildren Kristen and William, and her four great grandchildren Logan, Noah, Broden and Adeline.
