Irene E. Adamson passed away peacefully on Friday, November 30, 2012 at the age of 95 years in San Diego, California. She was born in Hankinson, North Dakota on August 17, 1917. She married Walter A. Adamson on September 3, 1935 and they moved to California in 1941 to pursue a better life. Her five sisters and their families also came to live here in San Diego and they were all together again. It was a very close-knit family.
During her lifetime Irene helped her husband with his business and was active in her church. The family attended church for many years at Grace Lutheran Church in San Diego and later at Christ Lutheran Church in La Mesa. She dearly loved her family, her sisters, her daughters and sons-in-law, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters Heather I. Kunkel of Lemon Grove and Bonnie L. Arms and husband Mike of San Diego. Irene also has four grandchildren, Mark Kunkel, Danette Karnes, Wendy Hootman and Brian Arms; and six great grandchildren Alex Kunkel, Krystal Karnes, Daniel Karnes, Lucas Karnes, Hailee Hootman and Autumn Hootman. She was proud of all of her family, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Irene was preceeded in death by her parents, all four of her sisters, and by her husband Walter in 1982 and son-in-law Daniel Kunkel in 1988.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Conrad Lemon Grove Mortuary Chapel. The Graveside Service is on Thursday, December 6 at 10 a.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery, 3851 Market Street, San Diego 92102, where she will be laid to rest with her husband Walter Adamson.
A celebration of Irene's life will be held on Thursday. December 6 at 1 p.m. at Conrad Mortuary Chapel in Lemon Grove.
