Ken graduated from Concordia Teachers College, River Forest, IL in 1955. He was called by Christ Lutheran Church to be the founding principal/teacher of Christ Lutheran School in 1958. He stepped down as principal in 1983, and continued teaching until his retirement in June of 1996.
Ken has been described by many at Christ Lutheran Church Ministries as a “legend”. Everyone who has ever had him as a teacher or colleague, has stories to tell about Mr. Lamb, from state fair projects, learning keyboarding skills, stories about his dogs, and his “green thumb”. Stories vary, but what everyone will come back to, is the amazing model Mr. Lamb was of servanthood. Mr. Lamb loved Jesus with all his heart. He never said “no” when it came to helping. After his retirement he continued to show that servant attitude by serving as substitute organist, lunch aide, chapel pianist, tape ministry participant, and gardener.
Mr. Lamb died peacefully on January 16.
Friends are invited to attend Mr. Lamb’s graveside service on Thursday, January 26 at 1:30 P.M. at Greenwood Memorial Park – 4300 Imperial Avenue (I805 and Imperial), San Diego, CA 92113.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 28, at 1:00 P.M. at Christ Lutheran Church, 7929 La Mesa Blvd., La Mesa, CA. A reception will be held immediately afterwards.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Christ Lutheran School in honor of Mr. Lamb. The gifts will be used to support the tuition assistance fund and provide interactive and educational onsite assemblies. Both of these were near and dear to Mr. Lamb’s heart
