Born January 7, 1934, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on March 8, 2015. She was surrounded by her family and pets who loved her dearly.
She was born in Greenfield, Maine to Mr. and Mrs. William A. Polk, where she grew up with her two brothers William and Willard (Bub). She graduated from Higgins Classical Institute in Charleston, and then from the Eastern School of Beauty Culture. She worked in Bangor until she met John on a blind date and they later married in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Mary is survived by her husband of 56 years, John; their two children and their spouses: John and Jodi McBride of Alpine, CA, and Joanne and Eric Ludwig of Spring Valley, CA. Mary had five grandchildren who were the joy of her life; Mark, Jake, Bayli, Brynli and Katrina.
Mary’s greatest joy in life was doing for others, especially her family. She also loved her animals as they were her “fur kids”. After she and John retired they enjoyed traveling in their RV. She enjoyed camping with her family and attending all the sporting events that her grandchildren played in. She was energetic, playful, funny, beautiful, and full of life.
Mary has left us the most beautiful memories and she taught us many things such as the value of hard work and the importance of family. She will be so greatly missed by us all.
We, the family of Mary will be honoring her memory and celebrating her life on Sunday, March 29th at the family home from 1pm to 3pm.
