

Born September 8, 1924 in Darfur, Minnesota the eldest daughter of Rev. William and Muriel Lehmann. Phyllis spent the majority of her years in Libertyville, Illinois and graduated from the local high school. She was employed for many years as the Executive Assistant to the President of Anchor Coupling Co.
As an accomplished organist, she served Lutheran congregations in Libertyville, Mundelein and Island Lake Illinois. She was also youth choir director in several. Prior to retiring in San Diego in 1993, she was organist and choir director at Bethel Lutheran Church, Gurnee, Illinois.
Throughout her life, Phyllis was an avid knitter. Her relatives and friends were recipients of her sweaters, blankets and shawl creations. She also knitted and donated hundreds of warming caps to local hospitals for new born babies.
Phyllis was preceded in death by brothers William and Kenneth, sister in law Marilyn Lehmann and brother in law Marvin Yerkey. She is survived by brothers Quentin “Pete” (Joan), Gilbert, Harold “Buck” (Alice), Joel (Christine) Lehmann and sister Judy Yerkey. She was the much loved and respected aunt to 23 nieces and nephews, 43 great and 3 great- great nieces and nephews.
She was a Member of Christ Lutheran Church, La Mesa, California.
A local Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Conrad Lemon Grove Mortuary Chapel, 7387 Broadway in Lemon Grove.
Interment alongside her parents with a graveside service will be held at Highland Memorial Park, Grayslake, Illinois.
