Shirley M. Mc Carthy

Shirley went home to be with the Lord on Thursday July 19, 2012 at the age of 76. She is survived by her daughter, Dona Reid; granddaughter, Kristen George and husband Randal George; granddaughter, Nichole Reid; and great-granddaughters, Trinity, Chloe and Myleigh. Preceded in death by her husband, Ross McCarthy; son, William McCarthy; and parents, Bill and Belle Waddington.

Shirley was born January 2, 1936 in Missoula, Montana. In 1950 she moved with her family to San Diego, California where she attended Herbert Hoover High School and graduated in 1954. Shirley was strong in her faith and was always grateful for everything she had in life. She is a memorable example of strength, compassion, and generosity. She will be missed and loved always.

Memorial Service will be on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 , 2 p.m. at First Lutheran Church (867 S. Lincoln Avenue - El Cajon, CA 92020).

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 4 - 7 p.m. at Conrad Lemon Grove Mortuary (7387 Broadway - Lemon Grove, CA 91945). Graveside Service will be on Friday, July 27, 2012, 11 a.m. at El Camino Memorial Park (5600 Carroll Canyon Road - San Diego, CA 92121).

Shirley was much loved and will be greatly missed.

Blessed are those who have died in the Lord; let them rest from their labors for their good deeds go with them.

God saw you were getting tired

And a cure was not to be,

So He put His arms around you

And whispered “Come with Me.”

A golden heart stopped beating,

Laying loving hands to rest.

God broke our hearts to prove to us

He only takes the best.
