Virginia A. Meier

Virginia Ann Meier passed away on September 27, 2012 in La Mesa, California. She was born in Fresno, California on October 8,1941. Virginia joined the United States Navy on May 18,1961. She met her husband James while stationed in Maryland. They were married on July 18,1964. She worked for the Lemon Grove School District for 25 years and volunteered for many years at Saint John of the Cross Catholic Church teaching CCD.

Virginia is survived by her husband James of 48 years and her two daughters Mary Saldano (Richard) and Patricia Lopez (Edward), 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and also by her three brothers Gabriel Gonzales (Sharon); David Gonzales (La Cinda) and Daniel Gonzales (Kim) and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 from 4 - 7 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 6 p.m., both at Conrad Lemon Grove Mortuary - 7387 Broadway - Lemon Grove, CA 91945. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church - 8086 Broadway - Lemon Grove, CA 91945. Burial will follow with Military Honors by the US Navy after the Mass at Greenwood Memorial Park - 4300 Imperial Avenue (I-805 and Imperial) - San Diego, CA 92113.

Blessed are those who have died in the Lord; let them rest from their labors for their good deeds go with them.

Eternal rest grant unto Virginia, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen. May her soul and the souls of all the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, Rest in Peace. Amen.

I know I have told you this before but if you need anything at all or just want to talk. Im here for you sis! I think the thing I will miss most about Grandma Ginia is the way she could get through to my kids with just the right balance of stern and loving direction. She will always be missed!

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your dear mother. I have many fond memories of her at St. John of the Cross Fall Festivals. I also enjoyed the time we had together at Weight Watcher meetings.
