On August 19, 2018, Adrian Norris Harper, caring brother, husband, uncle and friend, known by many as “chief” and “unk” completed a long and fulfilled life at the age of 81.

Born on January 14, 1937, in Lenoir, NC to Clyde Inas and Zelma Augustine (Phillips) Harper, Adrian started his career as a Navy serviceman in 1955. After 20 years of proud dedication, he achieved four additional retirements at Carnation Company, Frito-Lay Inc, Shasta Beverages and Morton Salt Company. In 1961, he married the love of his life, also from Lenoir, Odessa Sloan Harper.

The military took them to California, where they lived for over 40 years before returning to their home state of North Carolina to enjoy a slower lifestyle in Pinehurst.

Adrian had a charming personality and was admired not only by family and friends but by anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. He had a great pride for his country and often shared adventurous stories of his navy days. His infectious smile and sweet spirit will be missed by his loved ones.

Adrian was preceded in death by his father Clyde, mother Zelma, wife Odessa and 5 brothers, Sonny, Demery, Harris, Phillip Sr. and Ted.

His spirit is carried on by many special nieces and nephews, several cousins, his two biological twin sons Adam and Adrian Jr and extended family friends whom were all blessed to know and love him.

A Funeral Service will be held on August, 25, 2018 at Pendry’s Funeral Home, at 522 Wilkesboro Blvd. SE, Lenoir, North Carolina at 12:00 o’clock pm with Rev. Jonathan Sloan officiating. The family will receive friends from at 11:00 am until 12:00 pm at Pendry’s Lenior Funeral Home.

Adrian has reunited with his “one and only” Odessa and will be laid to rest along side her at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy and the Caldwell County Veteran's Honor Guard.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be sent to Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home, 522 Wilkesboro Blvd SE, Lenoir, North Carolina 28645.
