Stanley was born June 26, 1924 in the Baton Community to the late Albert Corbin and Sara Ida Bolick Smith.
In addition to his parents he was proceeded in death by his wife of almost 61 years, Yvonne Dillon Smith, sons Danny and Dennis, great granddaughter Sophia West, brothers Clyde and Jim and sisters Gladys Greene and Mary Turner.
He is survived by son, James of Burlington, WI, daughters Nancy (Jim) Williams of The Woodlands, TX and Karen (G.W.) Parrish of High Springs, FL, 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, a sister Nellie of the Baton Community and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a WWII Navy Veteran. After the war he went to trade school in Chicago for auto body repair and then worked for several car dealerships and still worked part-time until the age 81. Stanley was well known for his smile, which he seemed to always have.
Stanley was a member of North Catawba Baptist Church for almost 60 years and where he served as a Deacon, a Sunday School teacher for more than 40 years and sang in the church choir.
A celebration of his life will be held at North Catawba Baptist Church on Saturday, January 12 at 2pm with the Rev Ned Webb officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Navy and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
