He is preceded in death by his parents, Tilman Hensley and Lona Hensley. In addition to his parents, he has siblings, Tilman James Hensley, Jackie Hensley Proctor, and loving granddaughter, Sara Elizabeth Butler eagerly welcoming him home. Those left to cherish his memory include a brother, Golman Stanley Hensley and sister Linda Hensley Hollifield. Surviving children are: Tammy Burroughs, Scott Hensley (Melanie), Samantha Hall (Curtis), and Matthew Mayfield (Angela). His grandchildren: Dillon Burroughs (Kandon), Dalton Burroughs (Raelyn), Maegan Hensley (Brice), Gracie Isenhour (Luke), and Chase Butley (Katie) all loved their Pawpaw beyond words. His world revolved around his youngest Great grands: Adalynn Burroughs, Elouise Burroughs, and Banks Pittman. He also has many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and "adopted" grandchildren that also loved him dearly.
Andy was one of the most generous, loving souls anyone could meet. He would give to anyone in need, even when he did not have it to give. His love for hunting was only surpassed by his love for fishing, especially catfishing. He shared his love of the outdoors with his children, grandchildren and even their friends, who were always welcome in his home. He never met a stranger and always extended a helping hand and was a second daddy or Pawpaw to everyone. His house was always warm, a gathering place for everyone, and no one left hungry. It was a place filed with love, laughter, and some pretty tall tales.
Those that knew him also knew of his love for Jesus. He made sure to tell those he could about Jesus. He frequently spoke of his faith and how good Jesus was to him. Even as his days were drawing close he was focused on God's grace and faithfulness to him. It would be his greatest desire that all come to know Jesus and meet him one day in Heaven.
There will be a receiving of friends at Zacks Fork Baptist Church on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 pm led by Pastor Chad Baldwin.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you join for the receiving and service, and make sure you know you are ready to meet Andy one day in Heaven before he catches all the fish.
Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home is honored to serve the Hensley family.
