Betty Ruth Hawkins

Betty Ruth Holman Hawkins, age 93, of Lenoir peacefully went home to be with her Lord and savior on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. She was born September 15, 1932 in Ashe County, NC to the late Claude Holman and Gertrude Turner Holman.

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Hawkins and her son, Kevin Hawkins. She is also preceded in death by her three brothers, Howard Holman, Bruce Holman, and Dwight Holman.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Gary Hawkins; two granddaughters, Jennifer Beard (Jason) and Danielle Self (Matt); a grandson, Mikeal Hawkins (Brittany); 4 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Hope Hawkins; two step-grandchildren, Melanie Hatcher (Dave) and Justin Price; 3 step-great-grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew, Elizabeth Triplett, Patty Carey (Ernie), and Robert Holman (Linda).

Mrs. Hawkins was a longtime, faithful member of West Lenoir Baptist Church. She lovingly will be remembered for the untold number of loaves of zucchini bread that she loved to bake and share with family, friends, and her church family.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 1545 Orchard Drive, Lenoir, NC 28645, officiated by Pastor Rick Safriet.
