Blake Lee Roberts

Born August 6, 1932 in Caldwell County, he was the son of the late Ralph and Georgia Smith Roberts. Mr. Roberts was a former member of First Baptist Church of Whitnel and a current member of First Baptist Church of Arden. He served as a Deacon, Trustee, served on the Food Ministry, choir member, and as Sunday school teacher. He was a mechanic with the North Carolina Department of Transportation and also served in the United States Air Force.

Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Sean Roberts.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 57 ½ years, Mildred Pennell Roberts, of the home; two sons, Paul Roberts and wife Sukoshi of Cary, NC and Ron Roberts and wife Robin of Hoschton, GA; one daughter, Patty Myrick and husband Mike of Arden, NC; one brother, Yates Roberts of Richmond, VA; one sister, June Maltba of Hudson; six grandchildren, Lacy Alford, Perry, Logan, Corey, and Cameron Myrick, and Drew Roberts; and three great-grandchildren, Haley, Luke, and Ashton Alford.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 5:00PM at First Baptist Church of Whitnel with the Reverend Stuart White officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00PM until 5:00PM prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be made in Mr. Roberts name to either, International Mission Board (Developmental Department), P.O. Box 6767 Richmond, VA, 23230 or to the John F. Keever Solace Center, 21 Belvedere Road, Asheville, NC 28803.
