Blanche Z Kohnle

She was born January 28, 1917 in Caldwell County, NC to the late Thomas Clingman Hodges and Macedonia Townsend Hodges. Mrs. Kohnle worked at Dudley Shoals Elementary School as the Lunchroom Manager for over 24 years until her retirement at the age of 69. Many people from the community considered her their adopted grandmother. She was also a cherished member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Mrs. Kohnle loved the Lord, her family, her church family and community. She had a servant’s heart and truly enjoyed people and was admired by everyone that knew her. Mrs. Kohnle liked to laugh and have fun. She even won a Christian Tours Talent Show for clogging and recorded “Elvira” in Nashville with her tour bus!

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Carl Eugene Kohnle; one son, Kenneth Kohnle; one daughter, Betty Rodriguez; and seven siblings.

Left behind to cherish Mrs. Kohnle’s memory are four sons, Tom Kohnle and wife, Doris of Taylorsville, NC, Michael Kohnle and wife, Deidre Duffy of Asheville, NC, Charles Kohnle and wife, Sharon of Granite Falls, NC and Jerry Kohnle and wife, Marilyn of Taylorsville, NC; two daughters, Kay Anderson of Lenoir, NC and Pat Lawrence and husband, Bernie of Charlotte, NC; one son-in-law, Rene Rodriguez of Allentown, PA; and one daughter-in-law, Sue Kohnle of Bethelehem, NC; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; fourteen great-great-grandchildren; and many special friends and caregivers.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in the Christian Life Center. A Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at the church with Rev.Eric Lane and Rev. Mitch Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery.
