
Mr. Nichols was born in Burke County to the late Lennie Lee Nichols and Henrietta Curtis Nichols. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and George Nichols and three sisters, Johnsie Swearengin, Lucy Summerow and Marie Coffey. He was a retired truck driver with Waldensian Bakeries, a veteran of the US Army and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lena Coffey Nichols of the home; his son John Charles Nichols and wife Patricia of Lenoir; daughters Linda Nichols Paquin and husband Norman of Marion and Karen Nichols Braswell and husband Jesse of Granite Falls; a brother, Lennie Edward Nichols of Lenoir; five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A funeral service for Mr. Nichols will be held Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. in Pendry’s Chapel with Reverend James Hamby and Reverend Sam Craven officiating. Burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Pendry’s Funeral Home Saturday prior to the service from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be Sean Nichols, Jason Nichols, Ryan Nichols, Michael Southard, Jeremy Carpenter and Greg Kincaid.
The Nichols family respectfully requests that memorials in memory of Clarence Walter Nichols be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
