Cynthia Louise (Sides) Marshall, 70, of Lenoir passed on May 21, 2026. she was born May 16, 1956 in Caldwell County to the late Earl Sides and Barbara Louise Lutz Sides. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Lamond Sides Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband, Gary Marshall of the home, her daughter, Tonya Whisnant and husband Brian of Hudson. Siblings Greg Sides (wife Jody) of Lenoir, Teresa Christensen (husband Chris) of Hanahan, SC, Jeff Sides of Lenoir and Tracy Sides (wife Crystal) of Franklinton, NC. 3 Grandchildren, Seth Whisnant (wife Katie) of Aiken, SC, Allana Whisnant (fiancé Richard) of Lititz, PA and Trenton Whisnant of Hudson, NC. 2 Great-Grandsons Ezra Hawthorne and Gus Whisnant. She is also survived by special nieces and a nephew Brandy Sides (Joseph), Dustin Sides (Marcus) and Hope Sides.
Cynthia worked almost 30 years for Thomasville Furniture where she stayed until the doors closed in 2018. At the age of 62, she went back to school at CCC&TI where she earned her Associates Degree in Applied Sciences. After that she started working at Collettsville Medical Center in the medical records department where she worked until her passing.
Cynthia, who was also affectionately called “Cindy” by her friends, was known for her unshakable faith and her love for her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was faithful to read her Bible every night. She had a big heart and loved her family and friends deeply. She would generously do anything she could for anyone. And she was up for anything fun anyone wanted to do. She would always greet you with a smile and have honest conversations with you. Belonging to a family of pranksters she definitely fit right in. She loved to laugh and spend time with her family, from playing games to sharing meals together. She was an incredible cook and enjoyed preparing huge meals for everyone. The holidays and family get-togethers just won’t be the same without the best home-cooked meals everyone always looked forward to. Among all the memories her family and friends will have of her, the one thing that will be unforgettable is Cynthia genuinely loved them. She will be truly missed.
Visitation will be held at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home, 522 Wilkesboro Blvd Se, Lenoir, NC 28645, US, on May 30, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 2:45 pm.
A Funeral Service officiated by Rev. Jim Hamby will be held at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home, 522 Wilkesboro Blvd Se, Lenoir, NC 28645, US, on May 30, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Interment will follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir.
Serving as pallbearers will be, Brian Whisnant, Trenton Whisnant, Tracy Sides, Richard Hinkle, Dustin Sides, Marcus Sides. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Sides and Jeff Sides.
