David Carroll Pilkinton

Born November 1, 1961, in Caldwell County he was the son of the late Hezakiah Pilkinton and Jessie Pilkinton.

David was a member of North Strand Community Church in North Myrtle Beach. He was a proud veteran of the US Army National Guard and participated in Operation Desert Storm. He previously served as Commander of American Legion Post 392 in Hudson, NC. He was a member of DAV NC Chapter 6 in Hudson, American Legion Post 503 in Calabash, NC, and VFW 7288 in Calabash, NC. Additionally, he participated with the Lenoir and Hudson Rescue Squad and contributed as a volunteer firefighter with the Lovelady and Gamewell Fire Departments.

David enjoyed playing golf and fishing. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Bobbie. It was always a treat when he was able to spend time with Lucas.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Jones Pilkinton of Little River, SC; his daughter, Crystal P. Church and her husband, Chris, of Lenoir; his son, Jonathan Wilson and his friend Jackie Davis of Eden, NC; and grandsons Lucas Wilson and Belial Johnson, both of Eden, NC. He is also survived by sisters Brenda Pilkinton of Hildebran, NC; Debra White of Whiteville, NC; Rosa Brown and her husband Jimmy of Lenoir; and brother Daniel Pilkinton and his wife Stephanie of Maryville, TN. In addition, he leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Special companions include his beloved pets General, Petey, and Mickey.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 27, 2025, at 11:00 am at Pendry’s Funeral Home in Lenoir, NC, officiated by Pastor Rodney Raby and Carl Dewey Jr. Military Honors will be provided by the National Guard immediately following the service.

Friends may pay their respects to the family for one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Pendrys.

Burial service will be following at 2:00pm at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC.
