

Donald Glenn Hamby Jr., 82, of Lenoir passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Select Specialty Hospital in Greensboro.
Mr. Hamby was born on November 11, 1934 in Caldwell County to the late Donald Glenn Hamby Sr and Coma Wynne Blumenauer.
Mr. Hamby was a member of Whitnel United Methodist Church and was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Retired with 20 years of service to our country. He worked for the Department of Defense, was a pilot for Kopler Enterprises and served as Chairman of the Caldwell County Board of Elections for a number of years. He and his wife have raised Bull Terriers and showed them for over 40 years. In addition to his love for his dogs, he also liked classic cars, and airplanes.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Judith Anderson Hamby, of the home, his daughters; Sharonne Traina and husband Phil of South Point, Ohio, Sonja Greco and husband Tony of Newnan, Georgia, Lisa Hamby of LaGrange, Georgia, a brother, George Hamby of Farmers Branch, Texas, step-son, Kevin Bradshaw, grandchildren, Jeremy Greco and Matthew Greco, both of Newan, Georgia, Melinda Talley of Stockbridge, Georgia, and step-grandson, Austin Bradshaw.
Also left to cherish his memory is his beloved Bull Terrier, Posy, who will miss him immensely.
A memorial service to honor the life of Mr. Hamby will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 11:00 am at Whitnel United Methodist Church with Rev. Leon Morrow officiating.
