Donald "Donnie" Street

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Buck and a niece, Jennifer Rector.

A man of steady grit and tireless hands, Donnie poured much of his life into work that required patience, skill, and pride in a job done right. He drove a race car, owned his own transfer truck that he drove for many years, and ran his own garage where he did mechanic work on vehicles. He also painted cars—work that reflected both his hard-working spirit and the care he brought to the things entrusted to him. Through it all, Donnie carried himself with a quiet bravery that inspired those who knew him best.

Donnie was well known as a professional crappy fisherman, and he enjoyed fishing as much as breathing. His humor had a way of easing a moment and drawing people close, the kind that felt familiar and personal—like time spent with someone who simply made life lighter by being there. He often referred to himself as "A Jack of all trades and master of none".

Donnie had a strong faith in Jesus Christ—always faithful to the Lord above all else—and that faith shaped the strength and tenderness with which he lived. Donnie loved his family beyond words. He was a loving and dedicated brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and his devotion was felt in the everyday ways he showed up, cared, and remained present.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter: Amanda Duty and husband Brad of Granite Falls; son: William Street and partner Keith Bryant of Granite Falls; grandchildren: Cory Street and wife Lakota of Newton, Dylan Street and Breigh of Granite Falls, Zack Stacy of Hudson; great-grandchildren: Samuel Street, Levi Street, Alleigh Street, Asher Street, Emmi Street and Annaleigh Street; brother, Terry Street and wife Lori of Lenoir; sisters, Freda Calloway and husband Eric of Hudson, Sharon Munoz of Valdese, Tonya Street of Hildebran and Pamela Harris of Hickory. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his much loved extended family.

Receiving of Friends will be held at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home, 522 Wilkesboro Blvd Se, Lenoir, NC 28645, US, on September 22, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
