In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his wife Pauline Simmons, his daughter Patricia Bowers, his granddaughter Tabitha Bowers, his four brothers Buddy, Junior, Randy, and Raymond Simmons, his niece Robin Simmons, and his nephews Joey, Tracy, and Randy Jr. Simmons.
Left to cherish Ed's memory are his daughters Sandra Bowers (husband Grant) and Michelle Shew (husband Jerry), his grandchildren Curtis Bowers, Marcus Bowers, Athena Chang, Jamila Simmons, Edward Simmons, Marina Shew, Maddy Shew, and Emmy Shew, numerous great-grandchildren, his sister Peggy Hinson, and several beloved extended family members.
Ed was saved at Closer Walk Baptist Church many years ago. He was an extremely hard worker and retired from Kincaid Furniture. He loved his family above all things and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home, 522 Wilkesboro Blvd, Lenoir, NC 28645.
The funeral service will take place 2:00 PM on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Jerry Shew.
Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir. Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Griffin, Edward Simmons, Scott Simmons, Grant Bowers, Marcus Bowers, and Aaron Cantelmo.
