She was born October 25, 1930 to the late Emory Ours and Hazel Ashley Ours in Washington County, Virginia.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Mr. James Odis Furches; daughters, Sandra Robbins and Susan Dillard; three siblings; great granddaughter, Randi Dula; great-great granddaughter, Honeste Dula; sons-in -law, Roger Triplett and Larry Robbins; and grandson by marriage, Darryl Williams.
Mrs. Furches is survived by her son, Michael Furches (Kay) of Sawmills; daughters, Dixie Torrence (Andrew) of Lenoir, and Betty Triplett of Lenoir; brothers, Elmer Lee Ours and Paul Ours; twin sister, Betty Hamm and sisters, Delta Crowe and Phyllis Profitt; 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 19 great-great grandchildren; and son-in-law, Tony Dillard.
Mrs. Furches was well known for providing loving care for the children in her community. She was also the glue that held her family together. She cared for others immensely and loved everyone equally.
A funeral service to honor Mrs. Furches’ life will be held at Pendry’s Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Charles Crump officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Haas, Drew Haas, Ethan Anders, Bryan Hollar, Michael Anders, Joey Dillard, and David Dillard.
