

Born August 8, 1933 in Wilkes County, she was the daughter of the late Reverend Charles Lester and Eulala Mae Johnson and the wife of the late Edward Kanupp. She worked in the furniture industry and was a member of Laytown Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memories are four sons; Dennis Kanupp and wife Joanna of Lenoir, Roy Kanupp and wife Ramona of Lenoir, William Kanupp and wife Lydia of Vale, and Michael Kanupp of Lenoir, one daughter; Edwana Miller and husband Frank of Lenoir, three brothers; Dale Johnson and wife Betty of Roanoke Rapids, VA, Claude Johnson of Hayes, and Allen Johnson and wife Wilma of Wilkesboro, three sisters; Carrie Billings and husband Tyra of Trap Hill, Opal Shumate and husband Cleo of Trap Hill, and Carol Kennedy and Husband Johnny of Hayes, eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Services for Mrs. Kanupp will be held Sunday, March 25, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. in Pendry’s Chapel with her two sons Reverends Roy and William Kanupp and also Reverend Danny Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Laytown Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. at Pendry’s Funeral Home.
