Faye Velma Kirby

Faye Velma Kirby, 96 of Granite Falls, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at her residence.

Mrs. Kirby was born November 16, 1921 in Watauga County to the late Harlon Prestwood and Sudie Berry Prestwood .

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Eugene Kirby, a brother, Vance Prestwood and a sister, Mamie Aldridge.

Faye was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who took great pride in taking care of her family. She enjoyed cooking, and loved to take trips with her friends when she was able to travel.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Gene Kirby of Granite Falls and a daughter, Melanie Hampton of Granite Falls. Also left to cherish her memory are five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home at 2:00 pm with Rev. Sam Craven officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home.

Burial will follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir.
