Floye Greene Whittington

Floye was born on December 29, 1927, in Caldwell County, North Carolina, to Ronald D. Greene and Beulah Estes Greene. Raised with strong values, faith, and a love for family, Floye lived a life marked by grace, kindness, and quiet strength.

She was married to Paul Whittington for 50 years until his passing. Together they built a loving family. Floye was the devoted mother of four children, all of whom survive her: Reavon Prestwood, Jackie Webb (Roger), Ronda Whittington, and Cheryl Whittington.

Floye’s legacy continues through her grandchildren, Tammy O’Keefe, Beverly Hart, Nathan Webb, Traci Whiteside, Bradly Prestwood, Chris Webb, Stephanie Wright, Meghan Putzel and Glenda Whittington. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Stephanie Dula, and great-granddaughter, Savannah Dula, as well as her cherished sisters Minnie Huckaby, Mamie Whittington, and Pansy Sturgill.

Floye was a lifelong Christian, known for her unwavering faith, gentle spirit, and endless patience. Her home was always open and her kitchen always warm—she was a gifted baker whose cakes, pies, and sourdough bread brought comfort and joy to countless friends and family over the years.

A celebration of Floye’s life will be held at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 1:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Floye’s memory by baking something sweet for someone you love or simply sharing a kind word—just as she did every day.
