

Born July 31, 1944 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late George Lee Newton and Carrie Frances Robinson Newton.
Geraldyne grew up in Iron Station, NC and graduated from Lincolnton High School in 1962. She studied education at High Point College and Appalachian State University where she received a Master of Arts. Geraldyne retired in 2006 from the Caldwell County School System where she taught 4th and 5th graders for 33 ½ years and received many honors and awards. After retirement, Geraldyne volunteered at the Helping Hands Clinic in Lenoir.
Geraldyne was a kind and gentle soul. She had a loving and generous heart and was always giving to her parents, husband, daughters, grandchildren, and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 50 years, John Wesley Lockman; three daughters, Maria Michaelle Lockman Greer, Jennifer Gayle Lockman, and Jonjie Joanne Lockman and four grandchildren, Carrie Frances Greer, Sydney Gail Greer, Bergsvein Wesley Toverud, and Shelton Lee Toverud.
A memorial service will be held at Pendry’s Chapel on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 7:00 PM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dottie Tugman, Jane Curtis, and Kim Avery for their love and care for Geraldyne over the last few years as well as Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care during her final days.
